Once you’ve had your new double glazed windows for your Hull home installed you’ll want to ensure they look as good in 20 years time as they do now. After all you’ve spent a small fortune and you want to retain the value of this substantial investment. Windows don’t just look after themselves and to ensure they keep that just installed look follow this advice:
- Clean your windows regularly and carefully – consider cleaning them yourself as window cleaners are not known for being careful.
- Hoover the frames to prevent discolouration
- Don’t use high pressure water jets to clean your windows they may weaken them and cause them to leak.
- Don’t drill holes in the frames to hang things on.
- Wipe off excess condensation in the mornings. The excess damp can encourage moulds and fungi to grow
- If your windows get damaged call in the professionals to fix them. A DIY repair job is rarely any good and could in the long term cause your profile to fail.
Keeping your double glazed units in tip top condition isn’t rocket science. A little bit of work and the windows you bought from your local Hull supplier will still look great in 50 years time.
